Filing fees for bankruptcy petitions in the Southern District of Indiana will increase in less than a month, the bankruptcy court has announced.

According to a Monday order from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana, filing fees will increase by $3 for Chapter 7, Chapter 12 and Chapter 13 petitions. Chapter 9, 11and 15 petitions will increase by $21.

The new amounts, effective Dec. 1, are as follows:

  • Chapter 7: $338
  • Chapter 13: $313
  • Chapter 12: $278
  • Chapter 11, 9 and 15: $1,738

Additionally, the fees charged for motions to abandon, adequate protection, relief from stay and withdrawal of reference will increase to $188. The fee for amending schedules will increase to $32.

Currently, the total cost for filing Chapter 7 petitions is $335, Chapter 13 petitions is $310, Chapter 12 petitions is $275, while Chapter 11, 9 and 15 petitions are $1,717.

Chief Judge Robyn Moberly signed General Order 20-0010, which also sets the required installments for filing fee payments and goes into effect Dec. 1.
