Indiana State Police investigating inmate death at Miami Correctional Facility

Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility on Tuesday morning.

Detectives were called to the state facility just before 2 a.m. to investigate the death of David Eggert, state police said. An autopsy is being scheduled to determine his cause of death.

Investigators declined to provide any additional details about the case because the investigation is ongoing.

The Miami Correctional Facility, located in Bunker Hill on the grounds of the former Grissom Air Force Base.

It is classified as a Level 4 high medium security facility and has the capacity to house 3,100 male offenders in dormitory and cellhouse. It also has a Level 1 facility for more than 200 offenders.
