In a July 29 order, the Supreme Court announced that the two terms served by John Floreancig, Indianapolis Legal Aid Society general counsel and CEO, and Scott Wylie, executive director of Pro Bono Indiana, have officially expired.
Floreancig served two terms as the court’s civil legal assistance organization and Wylie served two terms handling pro bono organization appointments.
“The Court thanks them for their dedication and service,” Chief Justice Loretta Rush wrote.
In filling those vacancies, the high court appointed Kerry Hyatt Bennett of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence to replace Floreancig and Jean Blanton, partner at Zimmer Stayman Weitzel and Shoulders, to replace Wylie.
Hyatt Bennett and Blanton are ordered to serve until June 30, 2025, or when a successor is appointed.
Reappointments to the coalition include Indiana Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Slaughter; Indiana Bar Foundation Executive Director Charles Dunlap; Court of Appeals of Indiana Judge Melissa S. May; Indiana University Maurer School of Law professor Victor Quintanilla; Indiana State Bar Association Executive Director Joe Skeel; and attorney Michael Tolbert.
Those members shall serve until June 30, 2024, or when a successor is appointed, the order says.
Additionally, the high court reappointed Wayne Superior Court 1 Judge Charles K. Todd, Jr. He will serve until June 30, 2025 or when a successor is appointed.
The Coalition for Court Access acts as a legal aid organization that develops and implements a statewide plan to improve the availability and quality of access to civil legal services for persons of limited means.
