An Indianapolis attorney is suspended from the practice of law after being found guilty of operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.

The interim suspension for attorney Timmy Brown is effective immediately, according to the Indiana Supreme Court. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Brown operates the Law Office of Tim J. Brown LLC in downtown Indianapolis.

It’s unclear, according to the information in MyCase, what exactly prompted the request for suspension, which was filed in January. Brown did not immediately respond to The Indiana Lawyer’s request for comment.

In 2021, the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission filed a disciplinary case against Brown after he was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior OWI conviction.

He was suspended for a period of 180 days, with 60 days actively served and the remainder “stayed subject to completion of at least two years of probation” including monitoring by the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program.

In December 2023, Brown filed a motion to terminate his probationary status, but the Indiana Supreme Court dismissed it as premature, since he had not yet completed his two years of probation.

According to MyCase, the order was mailed but returned as undeliverable, which is the last recorded action on the matter. According to the Roll of Attorneys, that case has been concluded.

In the current case, Brown is ordered to fulfill the duties of a suspended attorney under Admission and Discipline Rule 23(26). The interim suspension will continue until a further order from the court is handed down.

The case is In the Matter of: Timmy J. Brown, 26S-DI-3.
