Whether it’s through time, knowledge, or work product, our members strive to cultivate connection with the people who call Indianapolis home. IndyBar’s sections, divisions, and committees are always working to create these community support opportunities for our members.
Our Business Law Section created and continues to maintain a Non-Profit Toolkit as a resource for those wishing to start their own non-profit organization. The toolkit is available for free to those who request it via email to Brandon Eades at [email protected]. Our Intellectual Property Section plans to host a program at the local library where individuals seeking patents can come and ask lawyers various questions regarding the process of acquiring a patent. The Professionalism Committee does an annual day of service each year. This year’s locations have not been announced, but in previous years they have visited Camp Dellwood and volunteered time helping the Girl Scouts, various food banks such as Gleaners food banks, and community clean-ups throughout the city. Our Family Law Section will be hosting multiple Mediation Days this year where registered mediators volunteer their time to assist with numerous family law cases for free.
Our Hispanic Lawyers Division will be hosting a table at Fiesta Indianapolis this September to create a clear point of connection between the Indy legal community and the Indy Hispanic community. They also hope to speak to students within Indianapolis Public Schools about their career goals and ways members of the division can assist students with those goals. Members of the E-Discovery, Information Governance & Cyber Security Section will also be volunteering to speak at schools, with the goal of encouraging positive development in the tech industry. The IndyBar Masters Division will be hosting an “Ask a Master” seminar three times this year where any member can hop on a Zoom call and ask experienced speakers questions relating to Civil, Family, or Probate law.
Several of IndyBar’s sections and divisions will hold drives for toys, coats, professional clothing and suits, pet items, and more as the year progresses. The Young Lawyers Division, the Criminal Law Section, the Health and Life Sciences Section, the Solo & Small Firm Division, the Estate Planning Section, the Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section, and the Women and the Law Division all participate in these annual drives.
