An Indiana prison inmate has been charged in the 2017 shooting death of another man at a Fort Wayne strip club, authorities announced.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reported that 27-year-old James E. Starks III was charged last week with murder, criminal recklessness where defendant shoots a firearm into a building, carrying a handgun without a license and using a firearm in the commission of an offense.

Starks is serving time after being convicted for a May 2019 handgun violation and a July 2020 battery, according to the Indiana Department of Correction, which said on its website that he was scheduled to be released from prison in April 2025.

Starks is charged in connection with a shooting at the Bleu Diamond Gentleman’s Club in Fort Wayne in which 22-year-old Marcus Rogan was killed and at least three other people suffered gunshot wounds.

The club has since closed.
