Interviews of five candidates to fill a vacancy that will occur on the Allen Superior Court have been scheduled for next week, the Indiana Supreme Court announced Thursday.

The Allen Superior Court Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct interviews on Monday of applicants for the Allen Superior Court Criminal Division. A vacancy will occur in January 2021 when Judge Thomas Felts retires from the Allen Circuit Court. However, the vacancy will be for the Allen Superior Court-Criminal Division because Judge Wendy Davis will be transitioning to the Allen Circuit Court after an unopposed election.

The schedule of interviews is as follows:

9-10 a.m.: Executive session
10:10-10:40 a.m.: Magistrate Judge Samuel Keirns
10:50-11:20 a.m.: Magistrate Judge Jason Custer
11:20-11:40 a.m.: Break
11:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m.: Andrew Teel
12:10-1:30 p.m.: Lunch and executive session
1:30-2 p.m.: Magistrate Judge Steven Godfrey
2:10-2:40 p.m.: Magistrate Judge Lori Morgan
2:40 p.m.-TBD: Executive session/announcement

Interviews will take place in the Community Conference Room at the Crosswinds/Lifeline Building at 4150 Illinois Road, Fort Wayne. The interviews are open to public with social distancing measures in place. Seating will be limited.

Under state law, the commission is required to nominate three candidates for appointment to the Allen Superior Court when a vacancy arises. The appointment will be made by Governor Eric Holcomb.
