Hendricks Superior Court Division 3 Judge Karen M. Love will temporarily step down from her seat on the bench after informing the Indiana Supreme Court she will be periodically unavailable due to upcoming medical treatments.

In a Tuesday order, the high court appointed Judge Mark Jones to serve as judge pro tempore in her place. Jones will fill Love’s seat on the bench from Jan. 10 to Feb. 23.

The Supreme Court’s order stated Love had provided notice she will be unable to perform her duties due to the treatments.

Jones will be entitled to compensation for his service, paid by the state, computed at the same rate as the regular judge commencing from the effective date of his appointment, pursuant to Trial Rule 63(D). He is currently a judge on the Marion Superior Court but is stepping down from that role effective Saturday.
