An Indiana senior judge has been named to lead the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission on an interim basis, temporarily replacing executive director G. Michael Witte, who is retiring Friday.

In an order issued late Tuesday, the court appointed Senior Judge Robert B. Mrzlack to serve as interim director beginning Feb. 6 until further notice.

Mrzlack, a former judge of the White Superior Court in northern Indiana, was certified as a senior judge in October after he retired at the end of his expiring term last year.

The Herald Journal of Monticello reported in December that Mrzlack was stepping down from the bench after 24 years. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Mrzlack was admitted to practice in 1982 and has no prior discipline.

“Senior Judge Mrzlack shall have full authority to carry out the duties and responsibilities of Executive Director of the Disciplinary Commission as described in the Admission and Discipline Rules,” the court’s order says.
