A Noblesville attorney who was set to begin serving a suspension for failing to pay costs in a discipline action has been reinstated to the Indiana bar.

The Indiana Supreme Court on Sept. 24 reinstated Scott A. Adams after he satisfied his unpaid costs, as well as his reinstatement fee.

Adams was suspended for 180 days in March 2020 with 60 days actively served and the remainder of his suspension stayed subject to the completion of at least two years of probation with the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program.

The costs of the proceeding were assessed against him, but Adams failed to pay those costs on time and never filed a response to the commission’s petition.

Thus, the Supreme Court on Sept. 22 entered an order suspending Adams from the practice of law in Indiana, effective 10 days after the order was entered.

However, the justices on Sept. 24 granted Adams’ petition for reinstatement, in which he reported that on Sept. 23, he paid in full the amount owed in unpaid costs and the $200 reinstatement fee owed under Admission and Discipline Rules 2(h)(5), 23(10.1)(d) and 23(21)(d).

As such, Adams was reinstated to the practice of law in Indiana effective immediately, according to the order signed by Chief Justice Loretta Rush.

Adams was admitted to the Indiana bar in 2003. He was two completed disciplinary actions against him, according to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys. He remains on probation.
