In preparation for Marion Superior Judge Heather Welch’s retirement in February, the Indiana Supreme Court has appointed her replacement as a commercial court judge.

Marion Superior Judge Christina R. Klineman will serve as one of 10 commercial court judges across the state, according to the high court. She will begin working cases in February.

According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Klineman was admitted to the state bar in 2001 and doesn’t have any disciplinary history.

Shen is part of the Criminal Division for Marion Superior Courts and handles misdemeanors, felonies, domestic violence, and drug-related cases. She joined the superior court in 2015.

Klineman previously served as a commissioner for the court in the Criminal and Civil divisions from 2009 to 2014. She also has served the court as the Arrestee Processing Center advisory judge and as a member of the commissioner/magistrate task force. Additionally, she has served on the Judicial Administration Committee for the Indiana Supreme Court.

Ahead of her retirement, Welch has been certified as a senior judge by the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission. She will serve as senior judge from Feb. 3 through Dec. 31, 2024.
