If you hadn’t pursued a legal career, what would you be doing?
If money was no object, I would be singing. I loved and excelled in choir and musical theater all through middle and high school.

Who is someone who has inspired you in your career?
My son. I am a first-generation college graduate, and I just always want him to know that he can reach for whatever his heart desires.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Go where you are wanted, when you are wanted.

What makes a good lawyer/judge?
I enjoy helping others. I’m authentic and solutions oriented.

What is something you wish people knew about lawyers?
That we can be good business partners. We don’t always have to be the person you call when disaster strikes.

Tell us about a “lesson learned” moment you’ve had in your career.
I’ve learned that sometimes you are judged by standards that are not based in reason. But you can’t let that hold you back. You have to keep defying expectations.

Tell us something surprising about you.
I’ve been to Disney World over 50 times.

Why did you decide to enter the legal profession?
I took a career type test when I was 12, and it suggested a variety of jobs including scientist and lawyer. I loved science and I loved to debate/argue so I figured I would be an environmental lawyer, and it would be the best of both worlds.
