Barrett McNagny LLP
Tom Ludwiski started his career as an accountant, but he always felt destined to become an attorney. “I knew I wanted to practice business law before starting law school, and my public accounting experience confirmed that,” he said. After three and a half years at BKD (now Forvis), he joined the transactional group at Barrett McNagny in 2017 and hasn’t looked back. Ludwiski is one of just a few professionals in the firm to have both a law and accounting degree, giving him a deeper understanding of financial statements and tax implications that enables him to identify issues that might otherwise be overlooked. By integrating legal strategy with tax and accounting insight, he helps clients make informed decisions that align with both their immediate objectives and long-term financial goals. “Helping businesses and business owners realize transformative goals, whether that is selling a business they’ve built, transferring it to the next generation or acquiring a new business is very rewarding,” Ludwiski said. Outside of his full-time job, Ludwiski is also the chair of the board of directors of Downtown Fort Wayne, the city’s economic development district, which in 2025 offered support services to more than 300 businesses within the 99-block district. The organization also hosted multiple events that saw a combined $3 million of economic impact.

First job: stocking shelves at a grocery store
Mentor: Retired Barrett McNagny partner Bob Walters. “He had a tremendous impact on making our firm what it is today, and he has continued to be a leader in the Fort Wayne community, where I have been lucky to serve on boards with him.”
Self-reflections: “I am someone who loves continuously learning. It is one of the best parts of the job.”
10-year-old self: “He would probably be disappointed. At that age I wanted to play for the Hoosiers and Pacers or design rollercoasters.”
