A Michigan man faces six decades in prison after he confessed to shooting a Muncie resident multiple times in a September 2023 incident.

On Wednesday, Delaware Circuit Court Judge John Feick sentenced Adonis Logan, 20, to 60 years in prison for the murder of Jack Simpson.

Logan pleaded guilty to the crime earlier this month.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Muncie Police Department officers responded to Elgin Manor Apartments on Sept. 22, 2023, after an initial dispatch reported an individual in cardiac arrest.

Officers found Simpson, 58, dead on the floor of an apartment, with blood observed on the floor, as well as spent shell casings.

Video surveillance footage showed Logan and two other people get out of a Nissan Altima and walk into Simpson’s apartment building on the night of the shooting and then later leave the scene.

Police in Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan, also provided video evidence that linked Logan to the Nissan Altima seen at the Muncie apartments the night of the shooting, according to the affidavit.

A Muncie police detective interviewed Logan at the Dearborn Police Department, where he admitted shooting Simpson multiple times, including when Simpson was on the ground and no longer moving.
