Indiana Court of Appeals
Malik Gardner v. State of Indiana (mem. dec.)
19A-CR-798
Criminal. Affirms Malik Gardner’s convictions in St. Joseph Superior Court of Level 6 felony counterfeiting and Class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement. Finds the evidence was sufficient to support his conviction.

K.R. Calvert Co., LLC, and Philip Davis v. Brian Sandys and Jennifer Sandys (mem. dec.)
19A-PL-443
Civil plenary. Affirms the Hamilton Superior Court’s award of default judgment and damages of $10,000 for breach of contract and $40,000 for defamation per se to Brian and Jennifer Sandys, as well as its award to the Sandys of $106,676 in attorney fees, and a civil judgment against attorney Philip Davis in favor of the Sandyses for $1,260. Finds K.R. Calvert failed to establish the trial court abused its discretion in awarding damages, and Calvert and Davis failed to show the trial court’s award of attorney fees and the civil judgment against Davis were improper.
