 Indiana Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard will be one of eight people awarded honorary degrees from the University of Notre Dame during its commencement ceremony next month.

The chief justice, who graduated from Yale Law School, will receive an honorary doctor of laws, along with President Barack Obama and five other recipients at the May 17 event. President Obama is the commencement speaker.
