The Indiana Supreme Court is now accepting applications for state public defender. The current state public defender, Susan Carpenter, is retiring in May.

Applicants must be an attorney in good standing and have practiced in Indiana for at least three years. More details on qualifications are available on the Supreme Court’s website. Applications, which consist of a resume and cover letter, should be sent to Brenda Rodeheffer, Director of Office and Employment Law, Division of State Court Administration, at [email protected]. Applications must be received electronically before midnight on April 10 to be considered.

The Supreme Court is responsible for appointing the state public defender to a four-year term.
