Faegre Baker Daniels LLP partner James M. Carr has been appointed to a 14-year term as U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Carr joins the bench Jan. 1.

Carr has been a bankruptcy attorney since 1975 following his graduation from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, practicing primarily in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy reorganization, and commercial litigation.

He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and is an adjunct professor in business reorganization law at Maurer School of Law. Carr is active in the bar associations, where he has served as chair of the Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and as chair of the Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Carr replaces retiring Judge Frank J. Otte, who will continue to serve as a senior judge.

Marion Superior Judge Robyn Moberly was appointed last week by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals to replace Judge Anthony Metz III, who is also retiring. Moberly’s first day at the bankruptcy court is Thursday.
