A northern Indiana surgeon accused of plotting to kill his ex-wife and make it look like suicide could get a change of venue for his upcoming trial.

The Peru Tribune reports that a Miami County judge will decide at a Nov. 6 hearing whether 49-year-old Gregory Konrath's trial will be moved to another county.

Konrath was arrested in July on an attempted murder charge after police say recordings secretly made by his girlfriend revealed he plotted to shoot his ex-wife and had begun practicing at a firing range. The orthopedic surgeon's trial is set to begin Dec. 1, but would be delayed if the judge approves a venue change.

Konrath is an orthopedic surgeon at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, about 80 miles north of Indianapolis.
