Five eastern Indiana Circuit judges have been appointed to fill in for a suspended Muncie City Court judge facing misconduct allegations.

The Indiana Supreme Court on Dec. 18 suspended Judge Dianna Bennington with pay after the Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications filed 13 disciplinary charges against the 43-year-old judge.

Chief Justice Loretta Rush signed the order suspending Bennington after what court records reflect was a unanimous decision to do so by the five justices. The Star Press reports Supreme Court Justice Brent Dickson later signed an order temporarily assigning the Delaware Circuit Court judges to replace Bennington.

Presiding Circuit Judge Thomas Cannon Jr. says the judges have not been told whether their City Court duties will last until the disciplinary case against Bennington is resolved.
