Evansville-based Rhine Ernest LLP, a mineral law firm founded in 1979, has joined Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, expanding the firm’s presence in southwest Indiana.

Bingham announced the move Tuesday in which John E. Rhine and Stanton D. Ernest are joining the firm as partners, adding to the seven BGD professionals who serve the Evansville market.

“This combination not only enhances our commitment to serving the Evansville business community, it strengthens our regional and national mineral law presence with a team of attorneys who are ideally suited to provide high-quality legal counsel to the mineral industry,” BGD Managing Partner Tobin McClamroch said in a statement announcing the merger.

Rhine focuses his practice on coal, oil and gas law, and commercial transactions. He has more than 35 years of experience representing many of the nation’s largest mineral producers and lenders in transactions and litigation. Ernest has more than 35 years of experience representing energy companies, business owners and individuals. His practice includes consulting on transactions between landowners and energy companies, appearing before administrative agencies, and advising business owners on the development of an effective succession plan.

The former Rhine Ernest LLP attorneys will continue to work out of their offices on Main Street at Old National Place. All of BGD’s Evansville attorneys and staff will relocate to this office by the end of 2016.
