Electronic filing is now available in more than half of Indiana circuit and superior courts, as Fountain and Starke Counties on Friday became the latest to adopt e-filing initially on a voluntary basis. E-filing will become mandatory in those two counties Aug. 1.

As of Friday, 48 of Indiana’s 92 counties had adopted e-filing for most case types. The state hopes to roll out e-filing across the state by the end of next year.

It’s almost certain more than half of the state’s cases are now being electronically filed or updated. Of the 20 largest counties by population, only four have not yet adopted e-filing, and only one of the 10 largest has not yet been connected. Lake County, the second-largest county by population, is the lone top 10 in population where e-filing hasn’t been adopted. Bartholomew, Delaware and Howard are the only others among Indiana’s 20 largest where e-filing isn’t yet offered. E-filing is scheduled to begin in Delaware County July 14.

More information about e-filing in Indiana trial courts is available here.
