A Tippecanoe County judge will retain jurisdiction over both the superior and circuit courts while a successor to his previous seat on the superior court bench is being sought.

Former Tippecanoe Superior Judge Sean M. Persin vacated his seat in Superior Court 5 on Jan. 1 to assume a new role as judge of the Tippecanoe Circuit Court. But pursuant to a Friday order, Persin has been temporarily transferred back to Superior Court 5 to fill the vacancy left by his move to circuit court.

Thus, Persin currently retains jurisdiction over the Tippecanoe Circuit Court and Superior Court 5. He will continue to preside over both courts until further order of the Indiana Supreme Court, or until his successor in superior court is appointed.

Persin fills the vacancy left by former Tippecanoe Circuit Judge Thomas Busch, who previously announced his retirement at the end of 2017.
