The Estate Planning and Administration Section is pleased to award Robert W. Elzer the 2018 Patricia Paxton Wagner Award for Excellence in Estate Planning and Administration. Pat Wagner, after whom the award is named, was a prominent and universally respected trust officer with the various banks that eventually became Bank One and then JPMorgan Chase. Past recipients are noted as having “extraordinary efforts and positive achievements” in estate planning and administration. We’re excited to honor Bob at this year’s Estate Planning & Administration Section Holiday Party, which will be hosted following a one-hour CLE program on December 8 at the Woodstock Club. You can register for the evening’s festivities at indybar.org/events!

Bob is a currently a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP. He received his undergraduate degree with highest distinction from Indiana University in 1973 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1976, cum laude. He started his legal career in 1976 with Baker & Daniels as a trusts and estates lawyer, and during the last 42 years, he has helped to guide and shape that practice group through his leadership, mentorship and creativity, serving as practice group chair for nearly 20 years. Bob has always had a passion for the practice of law and is known in our community and throughout the state of Indiana for his thorough understanding of not only probate and trust law, but also the estate, gift, generation-skipping and partnership tax laws, which allow him to provide creative solutions for complex estate planning problems. Bob’s clients value his technical ability and rely on his counsel, compassion and integrity.

Bob is a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, and he is a past chair of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Estate Planning & Administration Section. He has served on the boards and planned giving committees of countless central Indiana nonprofit organizations and planned giving committees including CICOA, WFYI, the Eiteljorg Museum, the American Heart Association (Central Indiana) and the Indiana Golf Foundation.

We hope you’ll join us December 18 to celebrate Bob and the end of another wonderful year with the Estate Planning & Administration Section! Register for the party online at indybar.org/events!
