A repeat offender in Delaware County was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his involvement in a home robbery.

Following a three-day trial, Brock Watson was sentenced for armed robbery, criminal recklessness, and theft. His sentence was four years shy of the maximum sentence allowed by law.

An investigation into Watson’s crimes began in September 2022, when law enforcement received a call of shots fired at a home in Muncie. On scene, those in the residence said they had been robbed, and when one of the residents chased the suspects outside, one of the suspects allegedly shot at him.

Watson was identified as a possible suspect and was taken into custody a few days after the robbery.

After he was arrested, Watson admitted to being present at the robbery, and that while he shot at the resident, he said it was because he was shot at first, according to court documents.

“Watson is exactly the type of criminal that I have been talking about for years – a career criminal,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Eric Hoffman. “He has managed to rack up fourteen misdemeanor and ten felony convictions.

“I and most everyone else in this county are sick and tired of the same people committing crime after crime after crime with no serious consequences,” Hoffman added. “These repeat offenders must be held to account and sent to prison. This 18-year sentence does exactly that.”
