The newest judge of the Court of Appeals of Indiana officially joined the court in a private swearing-in ceremony on Friday.

Judge Paul Felix was sworn in as Senior Judge Margret Robb, whom he is succeeding, administered the oath and Chief Judge Robert Altice held the Bible that Felix placed his hand on.

During the private ceremony, Felix spoke about regularly reading his new colleagues’ opinions. Those colleagues then presented him with his first assignment as an appellate judge.

Felix, formerly of the Hamilton Circuit Court, was appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb in June to succeed Robb.

His public robing ceremony is planned for Aug. 31 in the Indiana Supreme Court courtroom.
