Tippecanoe Superior Court Judge Daniel J. Moore will begin working on cases on June 1. He is the 11th judge to be appointed to Indiana’s commercial courts.
Other commercial court judges are located in Allen, Floyd, Elkhart, Hamilton, Lake, Madison, Marion, St. Joseph, Vanderburgh and Vigo counties.
Moore was elected in 2020 as the first judge in the then-newly created Tippecanoe Superior Court 7, according to the Journal & Courier. He will serve a six-year term with that court.
A Lafayette native, Moore previously worked as an attorney. In 2015, he was appointed as a Tippecanoe County Magistrate judge.
Indiana’s commercial courts were created nine years to increase efficiency and accuracy in commercial litigation cases.
Cases that fall under certain categories of business disputes can be given to any of the 11 judges, who each have experience in complex case management and business law.
Indiana Supreme Court Justice Derek Molter serves as the high court liaison for the state commercial courts.
