Mike Braun to task in a social media post Sunday while expressing disappointment that state Senate Republican leaders had decided the chamber would not meet in December to consider redistricting.
“A friend of mine, Governor Mike Braun, perhaps, is not working the way he should to get the necessary Votes,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “Considering that Mike wouldn’t be Governor without me (Not even close!), is disappointing!”
On Friday, after months of pressure from the Trump administration, Indiana Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray said that his chamber would not reconvene in December to consider redistricting, effectively torpedoing the effort.
“Over the last several months, Senate Republicans have given very serious and thoughtful consideration to the concept of redrawing our state’s congressional maps,” Bray, a Republican from Martinsville, said in a written statement on Friday. “Today, I’m announcing there are not enough votes to move that idea forward, and the Senate will not reconvene in December.”
Both the House and Senate were expected to start the 2026 legislative session early on Dec. 1 to take up the issue after Gov. Mike Braun issued the call for a special session on Oct. 27.
In his Truth Social post, Trump singled out Bray and Sen. Greg Goode, R-Terre Haute, as RINOs—Republican in name only—as leaders in effort to oppose redistricting.
Trump wrote: “Because of these two politically correct type ‘gentlemen,’ and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House, A VERY BIG DEAL!
He continued: “Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting, potentially having an impact on America itself, should be PRIMARIED.”
