“[She] was a plus-sized woman, and she had difficulty finding clothes off the rack that fit her,” he said. “And it broke my heart when she would come home from shopping trips empty-handed and in tears.”
Now, Roscoe balances both his law practice and his design business in a cohesive tandem he said aids both roles. The creativity required of clothing design lends itself to the thoughtfulness needed to mediate well for clients.
While his design business initially began with women’s clothing, he’s since branched out to include men’s clothing, high fashion, and dressing celebrities. One notable client, comedian Keegan Michael Key, relied on Roscoe’s talents to dress him for the Emmy Awards.
He’s also ventured into doing work for film: his designs are featured in the movie “Hello Beautiful,” which was released this year.
And in the last few years, he’s stepped into the role of producer and actor, supporting the development of a feature film dedicated to exploring the relationship between those living with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones.
Ultimately, Roscoe believes his different passions show he’s more than just a lawyer and encourages others to explore their own passions.
“Life is not a dress rehearsal. We get one chance at this,” he said.
