The Marion County Judicial Selection Committee will interview 13 applicants next week for the vacancy created by Marion Superior Judge Cynthia Ayers’ retirement.

Six magistrates and seven attorneys have applied and will be interviewed on April 26.

The interviews are open to the public and will be held in the Indiana Supreme Court Conference Room in Statehouse Room 319, 200 W. Washington St.

After the interviews,  the selection committee will go into executive session to consider applicants, then hold a public vote.

Ultimately, the committee must select three finalists for the vacancy. It will then submit the names of the finalists to Gov. Eric Holcomb, who will have 60 days to appoint a new judge.
