The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, Heartland Pro Bono Council, and the Indianapolis Bar Association have partnered to provide volunteer training for attorneys who would like to help those in the community with bankruptcy and mortgage foreclosure or immigration issues.

The "Consumer Bankruptcy and Mortgage Foreclosure" training session is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the IBA Education Center, 107 N. Pennsylvania St., Suite 200, Indianapolis. Topics to be covered include creditor abuse, crimes and mortgage fraud in bankruptcy, and alternatives to bankruptcy for foreclosure clients. Six hours of CLE credit are pending, including one hour of ethics training.

The training session for "Basics in Immigration Law" is from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Dec. 12 at Baker & Daniels, 300 N. Meridian St., Suite 2700, Indianapolis. Session topics include deportability and deportation defenses, and ethics in immigration cases. Seven hours of CLE credit, including one hour of ethics credit, are pending.

The sessions are $150 each for IBA members or $200 for non-IBA members. Those who agree to accept one pro bono case in mortgage foreclosure or immigration can have their session fee waived.
