Judge Robyn L. Moberly, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana, has been appointed to replace Judge James K. Coachys as the court's chief judge. Coachys is retiring Sept. 30.

Moberly will become chief bankruptcy judge Aug. 1. She joined the court in November 2012 after serving as a trial judge in Marion County for 15 years. She is the first woman appointed to a federal bankruptcy judgeship in Indiana.

Coachys joined the Bankruptcy Court in 2000. Before becoming a federal court judge, he worked as a juvenile referee and then as a Superior Court judge in Johnson County.
