Indiana University Maurer School of Law will hold a dedication ceremony for the law school building Friday, which is being renamed Baier Hall in recognition of alum Lowell E. Baier. Baier recently made a $20 million estate gift to the Bloomington law school.
The gift includes renaming the law school building after Baier and renaming the law library the Jerome Hall Law Library in recognition of a longtime professor who was a mentor to Baier and many other alumni. Baier graduated from the law school in 1964 and went on to form Baier Properties, a Maryland-based developer of warehouses, residential properties, office buildings and shopping centers.
The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in the law school’s Moot Court Room. IU President Michael A. McRobbie, Executive Vice President for University Academic Affairs John S. Applegate, IU Maurer Dean Austen Parrish, Baier and others are schedule to speak at the event.
