Ice Miller LLP has opened an office in Time Square in New York City.

The Indianapolis-based law firm said Thursday morning that the outpost at 1500 Broadway will be staffed by Thomas Kesoglou, a former partner with McCarter & English, the oldest and largest law firm based in New Jersey. His addition is expected to enable the firm to deepen its private equity practice.

Kesoglou will be joined in New York by partner Ed Braum, associate Chase Stuart and law clerk Michelle Zaretsky.

“We need to go where our clients are, and more and more of our transactional and private equity clients are based on the East Coast,” said Steve Humke, Ice Miller’s chief managing partner, in a written statement.

Kesoglou has represented a variety of private equity investors in their investment strategies, including leveraged buyouts, mezzanine financings, growth capital transactions, early- and late-stage private equity investments and secondary transactions.

He joins Ice Miller's private equity team of nearly 40 attorneys that last year closed more than 80 transactions.

With 184 local attorneys, Ice Miller is the city’s third-largest law firm, according to Indianapolis Business Journal statistics. It now has seven offices nationwide.
