The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is now accepting applications for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program.

The JAG program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funds for state and local jurisdictions. Last year, more than $2.8 million was awarded to roughly 50 recipients.

Through the program, states and local governments can receive critical funding for program areas such as law enforcement, prosecution and court programs; prevention and education programs; corrections and community corrections; drug treatment and enforcement; crime victim and witness initiatives; and planning, evaluation and technology improvement programs. JAG-funded projects can also address crime by providing services directly to individuals and communities and by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of criminal justice systems, processes and procedures.

JAG applications, which are due by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 20, will only be accepted through the Egrants online application, which can be found at https://egrants.cji.in.gov. Applicants must be registered in Egrants to access the application, and the registration process can take several days to complete. First-time registrants can complete the registration process by visiting the Egrants website and clicking the “Register” button on the home page.
