The records department of the Marion County clerk’s office is relocating from the sub-basement of the Indianapolis City-County Building to a consolidated records department at 1330 S. Madison Ave. A news release from Clerk Mrya Eldridge says the transition enables the office to store records in one location, increase storage space and decrease costs.

The transition began last week and the department began operating in the new location Tuesday. The phone number remains the same — 317-327-4715 — as do hours, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays, and the process for submitting requests for court files stored in the records department.

Eldridge noted the new facility will provide free parking for users and is located near a bus stop at Orange Street and Madison Avenue.

The records department of the clerk’s office stores court records that are more than three years old. Records less than three years old are maintained in the court of record.
