As electronic filing begins in Marion County Friday, Indiana state courts this week approved a sixth e-filing service provider, which is also the third to offer services free of charge.

File & Serve Indiana joins Filetime as the only private providers offering free basic e-filing services as well as premium services for which flat fees or billing plans apply. The state-provided system offers free service without paid plans. Three other approved vendors — Doxpop, Green Filing and Neat Filing — provide only paid e-filing plans. A comparison of services is available here.

Twenty-one Indiana counties have initiated e-filing, including Marion County, which went live Friday. E-filing is scheduled to be mandatory statewide by the end of 2018. More information about e-filing is available here.
