The Johnson Circuit Court judge will be temporarily transferred to the county’s Superior Court later this month when Superior Judge Cynthia S. Emkes retires.

Johnson Circuit Judge K. Mark Loyd will be transferred effective at the close of business on April 28. According to a Tuesday order from the Indiana Supreme Court, Loyd will take Emkes’ seat “to facilitate the judicial work of the court and to appoint senior judges as necessary.” He will also have jurisdiction over both the Circuit Court and Superior Court 2.

Additionally, the Tuesday order increases the allocation of senior judge service days in Johnson Superior Court 2 in 2017 by 110 days. Loyd’s transfer will remain in effect until further order of the court.

Emkes is retiring from the bench April 28. She was recently approved for senior judge certification.
