A 40-year-old man has been charged with drunken driving and reckless homicide after a head-on crash in northern Indiana left a husband and wife dead.

The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office says Tron Gorbonosenko of New Carlisle was jailed Wednesday on $25,000 bond ahead of an Oct. 24 hearing. Court records didn't list a defense lawyer.

Authorities say the Oct. 6 crash on U.S. 20 about 15 miles west of South Bend occurred when an eastbound Ford Mustang driven by Gorbonosenko crossed the median and collided with a westbound Honda minivan.

The crash killed 47-year-old minivan driver Don Kaczmarek of Michigan City and his 49-year-old wife, Angie.

Gorbonosenko was extricated from his car and airlifted to a hospital, where he was treated and released about a week afterward.
