American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana plans a noon rally Friday in opposition to U.S. Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies carrying out the Trump administration’s family separation order.

The rally, part of a national day of action, will take place outside the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, 10 W. Market St., Indianapolis.

ICE, Border Patrol, and other agencies are taking the children of immigrants and asylum-seekers and sending them to faraway detention centers under the Trump administration policy, ACLU said in a statement. ACLU attorneys earlier this year sued the Trump administration of its practice of forcibly separating asylum-seeking parents and their young children.

“The ACLU of Indiana continues to stand against the Trump administration’s inhumane immigration policies,” the organization said in a statement Friday. “ICE apprehends and separates families while U.S. Attorneys enforce the separation in legal proceedings. Indianapolis community members are coming together to stand up against the separation of families.”
