Charges were dropped against a former East Chicago junior high school teacher accused of sexual misconduct with two students.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports that prosecutors filed a motion in May to dismiss the case against P.E.C. The 40-year-old math and gym teacher at Block Junior High School was charged in October 2016 with felony child molesting and sexual misconduct.

A 13-year-old girl told police that P.E.C. touched her arm and thigh in a way that made her uncomfortable. Court records state that a 14-year-old girl said P.E.C. sat behind her in math class, touched her inappropriately with his knee, pulled her hair and said: “You know I’m fine.”

Prosecutors say they were unable to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
