Indiana authorities reach tentative settlement in Floyd County jail death

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department has reached a tentative settlement with the father of a woman who died in detention.

The News and Tribune reports that an order was issued June 22 to file documents and authorize dismissal within 60 days of a civil case filed by Mark Robb against Floyd County Sheriff Frank Loop, the sheriff’s department and eight other employees. Robb is the father of Hanna Robb, who died in the jail March 20, 2016.

The lawsuit alleges the 23-year-old woman died due to not being treated for drug withdrawals she experienced after an arrest for probation violation five days earlier.

Mark Robb’s attorney said Thursday the settlement isn’t finalized and that terms would be confidential. An attorney for Loop and the department declined to comment.
