Interviews with 19 applicants for the Lake Superior Court opening left by the resignation of Judge Jesse M. Villalpando are scheduled to take place next month over a two-day period.
The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission will interview applicants Dec. 3 and 4. Interviews will be in the Lake County Board of Commissioners hearing room on the third floor of building A at the Lake County Government Center in Crown Point.

The Commission will accept public comment on the applicants by email at firstname.lastname@example.org until 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19.
The commission is tasked with submitting the names of “the three most highly qualified candidates from among all those eligible” to Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb, who will make the final judicial appointment.
Interviews are open to the public. Audience members are asked to refrain from activities that detract from the interview process. Questioning of the applicants is reserved for the commission.
