Interview schedule set for Lake Superior judgeship

Interviews with 19 applicants for the Lake Superior Court opening left by the resignation of Judge Jesse M. Villalpando are scheduled to take place next month over a two-day period.

The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission will interview applicants Dec. 3 and 4.  Interviews will be in the Lake County Board of Commissioners hearing room on the third floor of building A at the Lake County Government Center in Crown Point.

The Dec. 3 interview schedule is as follows:

8:30 a.m. (CST): Organizational meeting

8:40 a.m.: Carrie Castro

9:05 a.m.: Alan M. Kus

9:30 a.m.: Andrew L. Kraemer

9:55 a.m.: Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Ormes

10:20 a.m.: Break

10:30 a.m.: Steve E. Haddad

10:55 a.m.: Frank R. Martinez, III

11:20 a.m.: Daniel W. Burke, Jr.

11:45 a.m.: Lunch Break

12:25 p.m.: Kristina Kantar

12:50 p.m.: Todd A. Bockman

1:15 p.m.: Aleksandra Dimitrijevic

1:40 p.m.: Magistrate Kathleen A. Sullivan

2:05 p.m.: Break

2:15 p.m.: Judge Gina L. Jones

2:40 p.m.: Inga D. Lewis-Shannon

3:05 p.m.: Joshua Steven Mahler

3:30 p.m.: Magistrate Kathleen M. Belzeski

3:55 p.m.: Adjourn for the day

Then, on Dec. 4:

8:30 a.m.: Organizational meeting

8:40 a.m.: Bernard J. Johnsen

9:05 a.m.: Alexander Lopez

9:30 a.m.: Judge Amy L. Jorgensen

9:55 a.m.: Magistrate Judge Michael N. Pagano

10:20 a.m.: Break

10:30 a.m.: Deliberations begin

11:30 a.m.: Lunch Break

12:15 p.m.: Deliberations continue until three nominees selected

The Commission will accept public comment on the applicants by email at lakejnc@courts.in.gov until 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19.

The commission is tasked with submitting the names of “the three most highly qualified candidates from among all those eligible” to Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb, who will make the final judicial appointment.

Interviews are open to the public. Audience members are asked to refrain from activities that detract from the interview process. Questioning of the applicants is reserved for the commission.
