With former Elkhart Superior Judge Gretchen S. Lund’s recent confirmation as a federal judge, the state is now looking to fill her position in Elkhart County.

The Office of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is accepting applications for the position of judge of Elkhart Superior Court 4.

According to the Governor’s Office, qualified applicants should complete and submit the judicial application by no later than 5 p.m. on March 4.

Applications should be sent to the Governor’s Office preferably via email to [email protected], or alternatively by hard copy to Governor’s Office, Attn: Joseph R. Heerens, State House Room 206, Indianapolis 46204.

Lund was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana by an 87-6 vote on Jan. 25, replacing now-Senior Judge Jon DeGuilio.

She was elected to the state court in 2014 and took the bench in Elkhart Superior Court 4 in 2015. Before that, she had served as judge of the Goshen City Court since 2008.

Lund is a 1998 graduate of Butler University and a 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law.

Applications are also being sought to replace former St. Joseph Superior Judge Cristal C. Brisco, who was confirmed to the Indiana Northern District Court on the same day as Lund.

Brisco’s vacancy is being filled through a merit selection process that begins with the St. Joseph County Judicial Nominating Commission.
