Indiana attorneys and law students looking for some recreational fun have a few weeks left to sign up for the lawyer’s basketball league.

Lee Christie, a partner at Cline Farrell Christie & Lee, has worked with Ian Goodman, an attorney at Paganelli Law Group to bring the local lawyers basketball league back to life in recent years, hoping to bolster interest in what was a thriving activity at its inception in the 1980s.

The league starts during the first week of December 2019 and runs through the end of February 2020. Immediately following the regular season are single-elimination playoffs.

Games are played at the Indianapolis Basketball Academy, 3800 Bauer Drive West, Indianapolis, on Thursday nights, Goodman said. Teams may consist of lawyers, law firms and their employees, law students and attorneys’ family members, if necessary. The goal, Goodman said, is to have at least 16 teams play in the league this season.

“To get to that number, we need more teams to sign up than did last year,” he said. “We’re looking for groups with enough numbers to form a team to participate.”

In previous seasons, the cost per team was roughly $1,000. Team rosters can include up to 15 players.

Interested teams can contact Lee Christie at [email protected] or Ian Goodman at [email protected] no later than November 8.
