The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and Indiana State Bar Association are hosting a continuing legal education presentation on immigration law in October in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Attorney Alfredo Estrada will share stories and discuss immigration law during his presentation, “The Immigrant Experience: Latinos in Indiana and Beyond” at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6.

Estrada’s remarks will be the keynote address as part of the seventh annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration hosted by the Southern District and the Indiana State Bar Association’s Latino Affairs Committee.

Estrada is a partner at Burke Constanza & Carberry LLP, the chair of its immigration practice group and a member of the firm’s litigation practice group.

He was the first Latino president of the Lake County Bar Association and served on its Board of Managers and is also a past president of the Rudy Lozano Bar Association, formerly known as the Northwest Indiana Hispanic Bar Association.

The program will be at the Birch Bayh Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Indianapolis in Sarah Evans Barker Courtroom 216. The Latin band Grupo Bembe will be performing at the event.

Those unable to attend in-person can attend virtually via Zoom.

The program is free and open to the public. It will last one hour and has been approved for one hour of CLE. Pre-registration is required by emailing [email protected].
