A Fort Wayne man faces more than five years in prison after being sentenced last week for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Holly Brady sentenced Neon Frazier, 50, to 63 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release.

Frazier was convicted by jury trial in January.

According to documents in the case, during a traffic stop on Aug. 16. 2024, Frazier was found to be in possession of two firearms, one of which was stolen.

At the time, Frazier was prohibited from possessing firearms because of his prior Indiana state court felony robbery conviction.

When officers encountered Frazier, he exited the vehicle and continued to walk away from officers after he was ordered to stop. Frazier discarded a bag containing the two firearms as he tried to distance himself from officers.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department.

This case was also part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
