A Fort Wayne man faces five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Holly Brady sentenced Melvin Green, 35, to 60 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indiana’s Northern District.

According to documents in the case, Green sold fentanyl to undercover officers on seven occasions beginning in March of 2022.

In July of 2022, Green was apprehended on his way to sell additional fentanyl.

Located in his vehicle was 30 grams of fentanyl, according to a complaint filed in the case.

A search of Green’s residence recovered more drugs, firearms, and ammunition.

Inside the residence, police officers located carfentanyl, heroin, two firearms and U.S. currency from an earlier July transaction.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration with assistance from the Fort Wayne Police Department.
