An Indianapolis man was convicted by a jury for murdering a man on the city’s east side in 2023, according to WTHR.

A jury convicted Efrem Edmondson of murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and residential entry.

On Nov. 23, 2023, police responded to reports of a person shot in an apartment complex on the city’s east side.

When they arrived, officers found Ousman Gasama fatally shot. Witnesses identified Edmondson as the suspect, court documents state.

The prosecutor’s office said Edmondson admitted to shooting Gasama after the two had been in an argument and physical altercation.

The two allegedly had been in an ongoing feud, with Gasama expressing days prior to the shooting that he was concerned for his safety, WTHR reported.

Edmondson will be sentenced on Oct. 23.
