In collaboration with the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, the Indianapolis Bar Association is recruiting attorneys to volunteer their time (in-person or via Zoom) for the benefit of law students participating in mock interviews. IndyBar has committed to providing 150 volunteers for the program and is currently just 25 attorneys short of that promise. You can help by committing your time to preparing the future generation of Hoosier lawyers.

Attorney volunteers will provide students with reasonable expectations in the interview process and help them avoid common pitfalls in a “hands on” learning experience. Interviews are a new endeavor of the law school’s Responsible Lawyering class aimed at providing future attorneys with the skills needed to transition from the classroom to the workforce. The course will provide students with substantive feedback on resumes, realistic interview questions and supplemental observations of the students’ answers, unique insight based upon personal experiences, and a connection with an attorney who has been through the interview process before. Responsible Lawyering is a core program administered by the law school, so volunteers should expect responsiveness and clear communication. Volunteers will be provided with a student’s name and email address, but the students are instructed to reach out and ask for the interview. Volunteers should anticipate spending less than 90 minutes interviewing a student either in-person or via Zoom. All interviews will be completed before the end of the 2025 fall semester and can commence as early as September 2025.

To volunteer, please visit www.indybar.org/mockinterview and fill out the brief volunteer form. Time spent volunteering for this course will have a tremendous impact on the future legal landscape of Indiana. This volunteer opportunity is not limited to IndyBar members. Consider encouraging a friend or colleague to share their experience with these deserving students.•
